Backyard Bonanza

We had a Volunteer Appreciation Event at my church.  The theme?  Backyard Bonanza.  It was such a great evening!

As guests arrived, they wrote their names and the area where they served in the church on a nametag.  I just printed the name of the event on the tags before tearing them apart.

During the evening, all volunteers were encouraged to write down why they serve/what serving means to them on a star.  (The stars were cut out on a Cricket machine.)  After they completed it, they hung the star on a "clothesline".  The tissue paper, with the stars spilling out, was a great way to fill in the bottom of the buckets.

The "welcome" sign ... the free way!  The base is made from half of a carpet roll over a microphone stand.  The signs were cut out of cardboard strips and drilled into the carpet roll.

Below are photos of the tables.  The placemats were used for mingling questions and for door prize questions.

Drink Table:

The main course was a "Build Your Own Burger" bar.

The "fixings" signs were taped onto skewers and stuck in green apples.  Hint: Let the apples sit solidly and place the skewers off-center if needed, so the skewers aren't crooked!

The s'mores table ... baked in the oven.
